Starting a business in Durham Region can be an exciting and lucrative project. If you want to start a business, you'll need to begin with planning. You should research the local labour market and see what kinds of businesses might have the best chance to succeed.

When planning your business, you should ask:

  • Is there a need for the business I want to start?
  • What are the overhead costs?
  • Is there a high risk with starting this kind of business?
  • How will I fund my business?
  • Am I eligible for grants or loans?
  • How many employees will I need?
  • Where can I find employees?
  • Are there agencies that can help me get started?
  • How will I support myself while my business is getting started?
