- Know your credentials. Don’t assume that your credentials will or will not be recognized in Ontario. Have your credentials assessed.
- Visit and get connected with a local Employment Service Provider that is government funded. There are many in the community to serve your needs and they are free!
- Network, network and network. Tell everyone and anyone you are looking for a job!
- Create a professional email address and apply to jobs online.
- Research the company you are applying to
- Make sure your resume and cover letter are proof read for spelling and grammatical errors
- Seek assistance to learn English if necessary and upgrade your foundational reading and writing skills. There are many free government funded organizations in the community
- Focus on soft skills
- Research the local labour market
- Look for a volunteer job in the community
